Robust planning is also needed to support a long-term vision for our capital City and we will need to:
- Carefully consider all stakeholder’s needs, including those of residents of multiple age-groups and family dynamics, business people commuting daily to work, business owners, all West Australian citizens visiting for entertainment, business or other purposes, as well as national and international tourists.
- We should also not forget our environment, the stakeholder of greatest importance, considering the viability and enhancement of vital ecosystems such as the Swan River and Kings Park.
- We need to develop and monitor appropriate growth measures such as business survival rates, peoples feeling of safety and social wellbeing
- Foster interaction between all stakeholders and the city allowing for increased connectivity, vocalization of diversity and ultimately the generation of innovative solutions
- Be open to change, introducing changes at smaller scales and learn through controlled trial and error
- Be open to constructive criticism, work with stakeholders to create fresh solutions rather than ruminating old ideas.

I am keen to see a Council that more broadly reflects the cross generational mix of people who make up the City of Perth.
